Hallowe'en

The weekend that was... and that did... kill my legs.

What a busy weekend! I really should try to find something more relaxing for me to do as a hobby... oh - wait I did... blogging. HA!

Friday was filled with D&D Mayhem... I tried to murder ALRO and Ray-Dawg's characters and as we speak my dining room table is prepped for an upcoming battle scene... Oh yes, death will ensue.

Saturday the little man and me had to be at the rink so that he could be on the ice at 7 am. *blink* On a weekend! OMG! Have you ever tried to convince yourself that it was worth it to get up outta bed at that hour on the weekend so that you can freeze your ass off for an hour??!!

Obviously, I didn't have a problem with that. And obviously I didn't have enough on my plate because when the coach said that our Minor League Team didn't have a Team Manager anymore, I said that I could do it. It's OK that I'm already the Team Trainer - I can do both...

Right??...

Then of course, Saturday was Hallowe'en... You know, some day I'll be a good mom and take pictures of my kid's costume. Sorry...

We walked around tricking and treating for about four hours... over two of those hours I was holding a sleeping infant... this is important to remember...

Sunday we had a morning hockey game. ALL the kids were slow on their feet. Something about walking around for many hours the night before and eating copious amounts of sugar... :~P

Monday - work as usual and then my evening meeting which turned into a bit of a birthday party.

Yesterday, I stayed home... Walking while carrying an infant, lugging trainer and manager hockey gear around - including 17 water bottles for the team - twice in one weekend, waking up early, staying up late and my already fragile back straining under my normal daily wear and tear on it... I was tired!

So, today... business as usual. I have bunches of phone calls to make, paperwork to fill out, emails to send... oh, and I have to go to work shortly too...

What was I thinking!!??!!

New Car Smell

I don't know if everyone knows this or not, but yesterday I picked up my new car.

Question: Didn't you already have a newer car?

Answer: Yes, I did...

Let me explain...

I bought my car in 2007. A brand new Chevrolet Aveo. Beautiful, small, economical car.

Then in February of this year, not 5 SECONDS from my house, I was hit on the driver's side door by an irresponsible driver. She completely T-boned me on a residential street. There was over $5,000 worth of damage on the car - they had to replace the front fender and driver's door, bang out the back door and the back fender, and then repaint the driver's side of the car.

Ray-dawg was in the back seat. He was fine because I always insist that he sits on the passenger side or in the center. Me, on the other hand, I had to go through months of therapy for wiplash, a torn rotator cuff in my shoulder and various other bumps and buises to my already fragile back. Total to fix me... $2,500... and ongoing. I cannot paddle a canoe anymore. I have been advised not to golf. I have aches and pains off and on throughout the day, week, month. I will never be the same.

But I digress...

After my car was "fixed", small things started to happen. All covered under warranty, but very annoying and very time consuming - too many tow truck calls! My reliable car was becoming a liability. I need a vehicle that will always start and run properly - and my car was no longer that way.

So I traded it in this month. I have a new-to-me (it was a daily rental before I got it, only 19,000 kms - just broken in!) 2009 HHR. Silver... fully loaded... chrome package... heated seather seats... auto start... And balls! This car can go!! :~D

I wanted a vehicle that would fit our more active life-style. Ray-dawg is in hockey and has a lot of gear to cart around. I am the team trainer for his team, so I have my own gear to lug around. Also, we go camping in teh summer, so this vehicle will have more storage space for all of our gear. Not to mention fishing... mmm... BBQ bass... And, I'm going golfing again next summer... shoulder/back pain or no shoulder/back pain! Ray-dawg, ALRO and I all have our own clubs... need to his some balls!

UPDATE: I was going to post this after I had some pictures of the car... but it's pouring rain and will likely do so for the rest of the weekend. :~(

Pics to come......

Operation: Baby

Yesterday we had the opportunity to scare a young woman into never wanting to be married or have children...

Let me explain...

ALRO and I had an appointment yesterday afternoon. Actually, I had the appointment - I insisted that he come along. We have been wwaiting for a year to have what's called a tubal patency test to make sure that all the plumbing is working since my surgery.

Quick Recap: I was married before, had a C-Section & tubes tied, divorced, met Al, tubes untied. There - you're caught up.

So we pick Ray-Dawg up from daycare because these types of appointments always run late, and we make our way over to the Special Ultrasound Clinic. This is all they do... Hence the waiting.

I didn't know if the procedure required bladder full or empty... so, I'm figgitting in my chair trying to hold everything in for a while. Once they finally called us in (Ray-Dawg stayed in the waiting room - he didn't need to be scared as well), the nice lady told me that I could go pee. Thank Gawd!

We go into the room, I get undressed from the waist down. Al commented that he didn't know that this was part of the procedure and promptly took a seat to watch. I scramble onto the exam table/chair - hard like table, shaped like chair... and put the very see through paper blankie over my nether parts.

And we wait again... while checking out all of the tv monitors and the actual ultrasound thing... At this point I don't see my nemesis - the INTERNAL ultrasound wand... That thing really hurt me the last time, and I don't want a repeat performance.

I start to get anxious / relaxed at the same time... outwardly relaxed, inwardly butterflies... we make small talk... and wait some more.

Finally, not one - the tech, not two, the doc - but three people, an intern, come into the room - and the tech is holding the raping probe. My comment, "Oh, there it is."

We make the most unusual small talk - something about looking for gold and diamonds... and the Doc puts on a head lamp - I kid you not, I burst out laughing! Until he put the speculum in. Not a warm fuzzy feeling... more cold, hard and gooey.

Doc: So, do you see how tiny her cervix is, my dear pupil. What do you think that would mean?

Intern: Umm, that she had a C-Section?

Doc: Yup, that's right. And if you look up here... (he moves the see-thru sheet) ...yup, see there's the scar.

Intern: 1 - me: cold and violated.

So they put the balloon in my cervix so that no fluid can come out and then they insert water and air into my uterus to see where the bubbles go. Where they did NOT go, the left fallopian tube - that's the bad news. Where they DID go, the right fallopian tube - and then into my abdominal cavity.

And that's it. There was a comment about the doc being a rotor rooter and pulled the syringe and the cervical balloon and everything out. I won't go into those lovely details, really you don't wanna know. I got dressed and we left.

Our next step is to buy a fertility monitor and check in with that daily
since just doing the basal body temperature hasn't worked for the last two-and-a-half years. There is definitely one month that won't work - the left side, and then the following one will - the right side, we just don't know what side I am ovulating from at this point.

So, Operation: Baby is still viable. More updates as they become available.

Loooooooooooooooong Overdue Update

Apparently I can post from work – so this site will now become more active.

What has happened in the last year… looking at the previous post – not too mucking fuch.

  • I still work in the same job - just as a manager now (although I'm not getting paid my increase yet). I'm being told that it's coming - but then again, so is Armageddon. UPDATE: no longer the manager, but succeeded in a competition to put me in a manager position permanently now. Got paid, finally, after everything was over. Armageddon didn’t come first - *blink*.
  • Ray-dawg is in hockey again this year. He's kicking butt - scored a goal this past weekend. Also he's doing well in school since we moved to the new house. I'm very happy for him. UPDATE: Ray-dawg is still in hockey. Doing even better this year. His team has actually won a game already – unlike last year where they only won one game all season.
  • Ray-dawg is also giving us attitude after weekends away at his dad's. I hope that we have nipped that in the butt, but probably not. He's a boy and my kid - so he's going to be opinionated. *sigh* That IS my fault... UPDATE: This hasn’t changed. Now also getting attitude over homework. I am starting to go gray over it.
  • ALRO is still the same... you can see him at his own blog. He'll let you know what's going on in his world. UPDATE: No change…
  • ALRO got me a video camera for x-mas. So, you may see some clips of hockey or other nonsense shit on here... UPDATE: Videos from this camera to incriminating… I will be hiding the footage!!! :~P
  • No pregnancy yet. We're working on it. More tests with the doctors to make sure the plumbing isn't plugged... updates as they become available. UPDATE: Finally have an ultrasound tomorrow to see if the plumbing is plugged up or not. Love wait times and cancellations – NOT!!

More posts more often… I promise!!

PS – I am picking up my new car tomorrow afternoon… pics to follow. :~D

Here we go again...

Another year, another blog... yup - I'm back. I never know for how long... it depends on whether I get frustrated with the whole blogging thing again. I shouldn't now though, I have my iPhone, and I should be able to update from there now... I hope.

So, some updates a la bullet format:

  • I still work in the same job - just as a manager now (although I'm not getting paid my increase yet). I'm being told that it's coming - but then again, so is Armageddon.
  • Ray-dawg is in hockey again this year. He's kicking butt - scored a goal this past weekend. Also he's doing well in school since we moved to the new house. I'm very happy for him.

This past weekend was rather hellish. We had to drive all over the city to accommodate my ex. He was stranded in Ottawa without his vehicle because he works for a local trucking company that was doing jobs in the city all week.

I drove Ray-dawg to the motel that his father was staying at (the company puts him up) and was advised that I would have to pick them up there in order for Ray-dawg to not miss his hockey game on Saturday. So I did. Aren't I nice??!! *smirks*

After the hockey game is when all the excitement started - we had to drive around, with them in the back seat, to try to find someone to take Ray-dawg while my ex slept at the motel. Pause here... why the hell didn't he just come back with us??!!

So after that fiasco was done, we made it home safely - and played Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) until later that evening.

Sunday (yesterday) I go back to the motel (noticing a trend here, I'm doing all the driving) and pick Ray-dawg up. He has misplaced some of his Nintendo DS games in one of the transports that he was hauled around in all weekend - and doesn't know where his swimming trunks went to.

*calming breath*

I drive away just wanting to get home and Ray-dawg is asleep in the first five minutes. When we got home, there was no argument from him to go straight to bed. So, at 6:30 pm, he was sleeping and at 7 am (the time at this very instant) he is still not up... poor little boy...

The more things change, the more they stay the same...
